Energy label for a detached house
With external walls on every side, a detached house loses heat through the largest surface of any home type.
That makes insulation the dominant factor. A well-insulated detached house can achieve a very good label, while a poorly insulated one of the same size will sit near the bottom of the scale.
What the assessment covers
All four facades, plus any bay windows, dormers and extensions
The full roof, often with several shapes and construction types
The ground floor and crawl space
Heating, hot water, ventilation and any cooling
Solar panels, a solar water heater or a heat pump
Time and price
Detached houses take longer to assess because more building parts have to be recorded separately. That is reflected in the price table, where detached homes have their own brackets up to 250 m². Above that, the price is quoted on request.
