Terraced house
Energy label for a terraced house
A terraced house has neighbours on both sides and therefore less external wall, but that does not decide the label on its own.
The front and rear facades, the ground floor, the roof and any boundary with unheated spaces are what count. Party walls between homes are treated differently from external walls.
Extensions and loft conversions
Many Dutch terraced houses have been extended at the rear or converted in the roof. An extension often has a different construction and different glazing from the original house and is assessed separately. Dormer windows are assessed on their sides, roof, glazing and frames.
What tends to decide the outcome
Whether the cavity walls have been filled, and whether that can be evidenced
Roof insulation and its thickness
Floor or crawl space insulation
Glazing type per room, which often varies within one house
The heating system and hot water production
