Check an Existing Dutch Energy Label

What this check shows
The check queries EP-Online, the Dutch national register in which all registered energy labels are held. For a registered label you see the label class, the inspection date, the registration date and the end of validity, exactly as recorded. Nothing is recalculated or estimated.
Why check before you order a new label
Labels are valid for up to ten years and stay with the property. If the home was sold or let in the past decade, there may already be a valid label, and you may not need a new one. Check the end date carefully: a label that expires before the transfer or the start of a tenancy cannot be used for it.
When a valid label is still not the right label
A registered label describes the home as it was at the time of the inspection. After insulation, new glazing, a new boiler, a heat pump or solar panels the actual performance can differ, even if the label is still valid. For letting, a pre-2021 simplified label (vereenvoudigd energielabel) does not count for the WWS points, even when it has not expired. See requirements for landlords.
Addresses with additions
Search precisely. A label for number 10 is not automatically the label for 10A. With several addresses or a split building, check that the label belongs to the right home.
Frequently asked questions
Is this check the same as applying for an energy label?
No. It only queries the existing register. A new or renewed label requires an inspection, which you can request with your postcode and house number.
Why is no label found although the home was sold or let before?
The label may have expired, the address may be linked differently, or a label may never have been registered. When in doubt, ask us or request a new label.
Does the check cost anything?
