Energy label for an apartment
An apartment is assessed as an individual home, but shared building parts and installations play a large role.
For an apartment the assessment covers the walls, floor and ceiling that separate your home from the outside or from unheated spaces, together with the windows and the installations serving your home.
The owners association
Much of what determines the result is owned collectively: the roof, the facades, sometimes the heating system. In the Netherlands these are managed by an owners association, the vereniging van eigenaren or VvE. If the association has carried out insulation or roof work, the documentation usually sits with the association rather than with you.
Asking your VvE for those documents before the visit is the single most useful thing you can do for the result.
